1. Controller

2. In short

You can read these pages without giving us your name. There are no accounts, no shopping cart and no comment section. What is processed is what a web server needs in order to answer you, plus advertising and measurement — and the latter only if you consent.

3. Hosting and server logs

The site runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) at edge locations worldwide. Cloudflare processes the IP address, the requested URL, the time, the referrer and the user agent in order to deliver the page and to defend against attacks. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our interest in a site that works and is not abused.

4. Consent management

Before advertising or measurement cookies are set, Google's consent message asks you. Your choice is stored in your browser so you are not asked again on every visit. You can change or withdraw it at any time via „Privacy settings“ in the footer. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads through Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). If you consent, Google and its partners store and read cookies and similar identifiers on your device in order to select ads, cap how often you see them, and measure them. Depending on your choice, ads are personalised or based only on the page you are reading. Google's information: policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG.

6. Tag manager and reach measurement

We use Google Tag Manager to load the tags above. The tag manager itself sets no profiling cookies, and the tags it loads only fire with your consent. Where we measure reach, we do it in aggregate, to see which readings people actually read.

7. Links from our emails

If you arrived from one of our emails, the link may carry parameters that tell us which email and which card it came from. We use that to see which readings work, not to build a profile on you. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

8. Email

If you write to us, we process your address and your message in order to answer (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and delete the correspondence once the matter is settled and no retention period applies.

9. Transfers outside the EEA

Cloudflare and Google are US companies and process data in the USA among other places. Those transfers rely on the EU Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, in addition, on standard contractual clauses under Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR.

10. Retention

Server logs are kept briefly for security purposes and then deleted or anonymised. Consent records are kept as long as they are needed to prove the consent. Cookie lifetimes are listed in the consent message.

11. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. Write to info@vettius.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.

12. Changes

We update this policy when the site changes. The current version is always on this page.
